My name is Vanya. I am a multidisciplinary artist working with topics of locality, queerness and ecology. Below you will find out more about my creative practice.

Short passport:

Name:
Vanya Mishin / Van'ka–Lenki–Vit'ki–Shun'ki–Mishki–Dunina (Perchugov Ivan Leonidovich)

Date of birth:
11.11.1998

Place of birth/residence:
Arkhangelsk, Russia
Statement:

I work at the intersection of three topics:

1. Locality and decolonization practices
2. Ecology, herb gathering, and crisis adaptation
3. Queer history and autoethnography.

My interest in these areas stems from my personal background. As a Pomor with family roots in villages along the Mezen River, and as an eco-activist and a raspetukh (a local gender identity in Pomorland), these issues are intrinsically linked to my life.

In every project I undertake, I adhere to non-hierarchical, anarchist work formats. I am consistently committed to in-depth research of historical issues and contemporary conflicts.

My primary mediums for artistic expression are image and text.
